About Me
Education
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. I also hold a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University and a Bachelors Degree in Drama and Psychology from Duke University.
Experience & Training
I moved to Southern California to complete a one-year APA-accredited Pre-Doctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System where I received training in a number of evidence-based psychotherapies for PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and other disorders. Following my internship, I completed a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the VA San Diego Healthcare System specializing in evidence-based treatment for PTSD. In addition to my private practice, I am currently working as a lead therapist on a Department of Defense-funded research study looking at the effectiveness of a new short-term psychotherapy for combat-related PTSD with active duty Marines at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. I also have experience working with diverse populations having trained at a number of prestigious New York City-area clinics and hospitals including New York University (NYU) Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital Center, and Beth Israel Medical Center.
My Approach
Alongside my specialty in PTSD, I have extensive experience working with many different types of mental health concerns, particularly those which are interpersonal in nature. This allows me a unique vantage point whereby I focus primarily on developing an effective therapeutic relationship with my clients from which I can then apply principles of treatment that target specific issues. I look forward to meeting you as you begin your path toward positive change in your life.
